On July 26, 2007, Pc Magazine reviewed Stopzilla 5.0, giving it a score of 2.five out of 5. Pc Magazine took note of Stopzilla’s mediocre malware removal capabilities and its lack of adequate support for net browsers other than Internet Explorer and stated Stopzilla: was most powerful against the milder malware samples. It whacked all the rogue antispyware utilities and the majority of the adware and spyware samples. Alternatively, pretty much half the rootkit and Trojan-horse samples totally escaped its notice.  Its final score for malware removal was a so-so 7.0 out of ten  Within a separate test applying industrial keyloggers, STOPzilla detected less than half and failed to get rid of those it detected, for a score of 1.3. Luckily for STOPzilla, I never give practically as a lot weight to this test. At the very least STOPzilla is speedy. A complete scan on my common clean technique took ten to 12 minutes. STOPzilla’s Active Enforcers watch for suspicious adjustments to World-wide-web Explorer settings, network configuration, technique settings, and start-up programs; in addition they detect the launching of malicious processes, solutions, or drivers. Several rootkits and also other threats completely evaded detection, installing effectively suitable under STOPzilla’s nose. Its final score for spyware blocking was six.9 out of 10. Also, STOPzilla didn’t block a single one of many industrial keylogger samples: They all installed and started logging keystrokes as well as other program events.World-wide-web Explorer customers also get the advantage of STOPzilla’s SiteGuard protection, which blocks access to phishing websites. STOPzilla failed miserably. STOPzilla stopped hardly any?afewer than one site in six.  STOPzilla five is nicely designed and presents an uncommon degree of beneficial tech help. It just does not shield your system at the same time as the ideal standalone antispyware tools do. Bonus features such as pop-up blocking and phishing protection do not add substantial value.
On January 30, 2005, Laptop Magazine reviewed Stopzilla as a pop-up blocker, to block “hostile ad software” for
Net Explorer (version 6) browser, and praised it for the potential to manage spyware and adware (however the overview does not mention something unrelated to browser safety as the software program didn’t do extra at the time). The overview described the lack of help for web browsers other than World-wide-web Explorer because the product’s only drawback. It didn’t specify specifically which version in the item it has reviewed.
